As you might imagine, the recent cuts to the GW Music Department have been very much on our minds recently. Below is a copy of our statement on the subject.

GW Alumni Express Concern over Cuts to Band Program

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(25 March 2015) – The George Washington University Band Alumni and Friends Board of Directors is gravely concerned about the ramifications of the recent budget cuts on the GW arts community, particularly the GW Band program. We believe a comprehensive education includes exposure to the arts, and to restrict access to the arts for non-majors and minors does a tremendous disservice to students. We sincerely hope that the administration reevaluates its budget decisions to help sustain the immeasurably positive impact that the music department has had on so many in the GW community.
